Community History
Noonday is a historic, unincorporated community of Cobb County, Georgia, located about eight miles north of the county seat, Marietta, and near the intersection of the counties of Cobb, Cherokee, and Fulton (formerly Milton).

The Noonday community is centered around Noonday Creek, which flows northward through Cobb and Cherokee counties and into Lake Allatoona. The name may come from the Cherokee word "nunda," which means both sun and moon. Another folk story told is one of farmers from Canton bringing their cotton to the train in Marietta. To reach their destination before sundown, they made sure to reach this creek in time for their noonday meal. This place is the modern day Noonday Creek Park on Hawkins Store Road.
